“True happiness is to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence upon the future, not to amuse ourselves with either hopes or fears but to rest satisfied with what we have, which is sufficient, for he that is so wants nothing. The greatest blessings of mankind are within us and within our reach. A wise man is content with his lot, whatever it may be, without wishing for what he has not.” – Seneca
I love this quote, especially around this time of year. I feel like there is so much going on this year around Thanksgiving. So much has gone on in the world in the last few weeks. Enjoy this time with your friends or family and practice a time of gratitude. We have so many things to be thankful for and it can be difficult to replace the feelings of fear or dissatisfaction with gratitude. When you’re feeling overwhelmed or anxious this holiday season, try to think of one thing you are thankful for and let that happiness be your focus.
I hope everyone has safe travels and enjoys the holiday. If you are working, thank you for your service to the community, no matter what you do.
