Have you been looking for a healthier (or cheaper) alternative for sports or electrolyte drinks? This is the recipe for you. Electrolyte drinks are great for hot days, sports, illness, or even if you have a headache. I usually just mix a cup of water, a serving of Natural Calm (magnesium), a pinch of sea salt, and the juice from half a lemon or lime, but this recipe is even better.
The best part is that you can adjust it based on your family’s taste preferences or what you have on hand. Don’t be afraid to experiment with the juices and liquids and feel free to share if you come up with any amazing combinations!
Homemade Electrolyte Drink
Makes 4+ Servings
- 1/4 cup orange juice (or a 100% juice blend of your choice)
- 4 cups coconut water (can use regular water, herbal fruit tea such as pomegranate, etc.)
- 1/2 tsp himalayan or sea salt (don’t just use regular table salt)
- 2 1/2 Tbsp honey
- (optional) a squeeze of lemon or lime juice to taste
Combine all the ingredients until well combined. I usually start with the citrus juice and the honey so the honey will dissolve better before adding the rest of the liquid.
Try using pineapple juice instead of orange for a nice piña colada- inspired drink.
